Review : Fair Cape & Tim Noakes Banting Yoghurts!

Towards the end of last year I was lucky enough to be sent some samples of the new Fair Cape Dairies and Tim Noakes collaboration range of Banting friendly yoghurts.  Read to the end and you might just be sent some yourself.

I’m not one to look a gift horse in the mouth so I accepted heartily.  At that point I was about 2 months into my Banting adventure.

While I definitely hadn’t gotten to the point of really craving something fresh and different from the comparatively limited options at my disposal, the layered flavoured yoghurts were certainly a welcome change from just eating plain double cream yoghurts.

I found them perfect as an after dinner, dessert type snack (especially in summer) because it gives you both a hit of something sweet and flavourful while also being cool and refreshing (if you have a nice cold fridge of course.)  They come in 3 great flavours : Fig, Honey & Almond, Raspberry & Strawberry and Pineapple & Coconut Cream!

Before this range I’d only really consistently been eating the Woolworths range of double cream yoghurts with breakfast by adding some berries and some crushed pecan nuts.  I’d tried some other stores in-house brands and found them all to be sub-par in comparison to Woolworths.  So I was pleasantly surprised to find that the 1kg tub of Fair Cape/Tim Noakes double cream yoghurt held its own, and did so very well.

So depending on where you live I have either good news for you or bad news.

As of the time this review is being written this amazing range of yoghurts is available in Checkers and Spar in the Western Cape and outside of that only at the South Rand Spar in Gauteng.

I’m quite sure the plans are to expand their availability in the near future.  If however you aren’t fortunate enough to live near one of the stockists then maybe you can bribe Mr. Delivery to travel across provincial borders with some of these delicious treats in tow.

Here’s the cost breakdown of this new range :

Milk - R12.99

Tim Noakes Layered Yoghurts (pack of 3) – R19.99

Tim Noakes 1kg Tub Double Cream Yoghurt – R19.99

Tim Noakes 6 Pack Double Cream Yoghurt – R14.99

My verdict on them is simple.  I loved them, they’re tasty, convenient and best of all guilt free.  But why not try them for yourself, I’d love to hear what you all thought of them as well.

So here’s where you can get involved!  Fair Cape has generously provided TWO hampers of Tim Noakes Yoghurts to be given away through this blog!
